What's Up Fool?

Comedian Felipe Esparza talks with random people he finds interesting. It might be somebody kind of famous or it might be that homeless guy at the end of your street who you walk past every day without saying hello. Everyone has a story to tell about how they got where they are, no matter who they are.

I met Desiree about 8 years ago when she started coming to my comedy shows. Found out she was a BBW porn star. She moved away for a while so I didn't learn much more about her after that. Luckily we stayed in touch and when I stopped by Vegas to do a show, I asked her if she would sit down with us and talk about her experience in porn and life in general. Listen as this bright, level-headed creator of BBW Con breaks down the porn industry, Japanese men, and all the fetish categories you can think of. Please rate or review the podcast and if you like it subscribe on iTunes or Stitcher. Thanks for listening! I've known and worked with comedian Keith Manning for about 10 years. He opens for me in a lot of different cities on the road. I like working with him because he's laid back and cool and easy to get along with. From the deep south, Savannah Georgia, he talks about growing up in the south, idolizing Blood In, Blood Out, black fraternities in college, and how he's never met a black person who went to school with the help of the United Negro College Fund… He also talks about his side of the crazy Houston story that my friend Theo told on our 3rd episode of the Kidnapped series. If you haven't heard that one yet, go listen to it first. Thanks to everyone who is listening to our podcast. We love doing it. The final episode in our "Cholos: Where Are They Now?" series brings us to this guy, Franky Carrillo, who I met while walking down the street. He told me he liked my comedy and that he had watched me on Last Comic Standing… while he was in prison - wrongfully. At age 17, mistakenly identified as a murderer, railroaded into life in prison and then 20 years later, Franky was released with the help of the Innocence Project. An unbelievable story of hope and perserverance in the face of an impossible situation and a young man who finally found his voice and remains positive to this day. By the way, Rodrigo was missing from this episode because he lost his phone and we couldn't get in touch with him. Go follow him on his social networks anyway. Shoutout to my friend Juan Romero who let us do this recording at his coffee shop in Boyle Heights - Primera Taza Coffee House. Go visit them and get a chocomil. Special bonus episode for Labor Day! Flashback to Kidnapped - Where we revisit the story of our very first podcast episode (the kidnapped episode with Chepo and his story of our trip to El Centro California). Well, these 2 guys were there with us, too. Comedians Richard Chang and Herman Sherms Cubillo tell their side of that story plus some other interesting stories of their lives. By the way, Rodrigo is missing from this episode because I forgot we were going to record until the guys showed up at my house. My bad. Actually, my assistant's bad... This is the second episode in our "Cholos - Where Are They Now?" mini-series. Birdman is an interesting character. Pretty laid back kind of guy who will sometimes tell a shocking story as if he's just telling you the weather. After growing up feeling "like a human garbage can" and then getting a 2nd and 3rd chance in life, Jaime is finally living on his own terms and learning how to adjust to life on the outside while avoiding the call of the streets. This episode kicks off our "Cholos - Where Are They Now?" series. A few episodes that will explore what happens to some of those guys you thought were a lost cause when they were younger; the fools that were drunks, drug addicts, thugs, delinquents… not all of them end up dead or in prison. Some of them become artists. I'm living proof that you can always come back from even the darkest times in life if you have something in life that you're passionate about. So is my friend, artist, Juan Carlos Munoz Hernandez (aka "Heaven"). I've known him since 2nd grade and we grew up following the same bad path in life. Eventually, after years of tagging all over L.A., he turned things around and ended up getting through a rigorous process to become an assistant to sculptor Robert Graham. Today, he still runs the gallery and creates his own sculptures and paintings and continues to do commissioned murals and other work. We had another visitor during the episode - writer Rodrigo Rivera D'Ebre, who is filming his directorial debut documentary on dark progressivism - a film that focuses on many different artists, including Heaven (Juan Carlos). Thanks to everyone who is listening to our little show. We love doing it. Please rate or review the show (even if you hate it) and if you like it, subscribe! What a great day this was… My friend Baby Bash (rapper, "Suga Suga", "Cyclone") invited me to the set of his video shoot for his new single, "Certified Freak" and I decided it would be good to do a podcast with him. Little did I know that his friend Kid Frost (rapper, "La Raza", "No Sunshine") was on set hanging out and bringing the crew BBQ from the restaurant he owns in Los Angeles, Little Max's BBQ (http://www.yelp.com/biz/a-taste-of-the-county-fair-lil-maxs-bbq-los-angeles). He was kind enough to give us some time and share his story, too. Thanks to everyone who is listening to our little show. We love doing it. A few months ago, I heard that Fred Stoller was looking to return to stand up after a long break of acting and writing in Hollywood. He's been in a ton of TV shows and movies and I didn't think he would want to open for me but it turned out he did. He was so funny and nice and had so many great stories of his experiences during the stand-up comedy boom of the 80s and being in so many shows and movies that I knew I had to get him on the podcast. Listen as Fred breaks down "comedy bringer shows", how Hollywood treats you if you're not the star, why you should never pay for acting classes and retells some stories from his book "Maybe We'll Have You Back". As Fred says, "life is so much better when there's no hope" #NoChiclets #NoRockettes Fred Stoller WEBSITE: www.fredstoller.net TWITTER: @FredStoller INSTAGRAM: @FredStoller BUY FRED'S BOOK: http://www.amazon.com/Maybe-Well-Have-You-Back/dp/1620877066 WATCH FRED'S MOVIE (FRED & VINNIE) ON NETFLIX. I found this guy Dani Luv interesting. He's Starchild in a Kiss tribute band (Kiss My Ass), he's in a Spanish rock duo (Matador) and hails from a little town in Kansas that you'd never know had any Latinos in it. Oh yeah, he's Latino, too. This is the 2nd episode in our series on "Hollywood Dreamers"… What makes a normal person drop everything and move to California to take their chances at fame and (maybe) fortune? What if they don't make it big? Why do they still stay? What does "making it" mean to them? What makes them get back up every time the industry knocks them down? We hear Dani's story of Kiss, Garden City, the Latin music scene and even his stint in the "back office" of the porn industry.
