Jeffrey had an interesting background before comedy - a white mom who "boosted" and worked with L.A. mobsters and a black father who played in the L.A. jazz circuit. Jeffrey also had a brief career in the NFL on the Atlanta Falcons and discusses the difference between college football and professional football. One of the members of Las Cafeteras gave me their CD about a year ago. I kept it in my car without listening to it because, let's face it, people give me a lot of free shitty CDs… but I wish I had listened to this one sooner. I finally played it a few months ago and something about it touched me. The music was beautiful and the message behind it was something I hadn't heard in music before. A group of 6 young Chicanos who came up through music lessons in a cafe in East L.A. have been working their asses off over the last 10 years and have finally started to get some recognition.
